3Blend wine

Union of grapes from the glorious past and present

3 grapes for the Red PGI and 3 grapes for the White PGI

We extensively studied the results of blends between grapes of great quality. We invited winemakers and other experts to compare the results of the experiments. We have certified laboratory and field work. We have obtained Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) certification, which we should remember means “a mark of origin awarded by the European Union to agricultural products and foodstuffs with a specific quality, reputation or additional characteristic dependent on geographical origin.”

The result is 3Blend IGP Campania.

Grape varieties: “Aglianico, Merlot, and Barbera” for red wine and “Falanghina, Greco di Tufo, and Fiano” for white wine.
The well-known grapes from our vineyards form the basis for the best wine in the two varieties Red and White. Selected grape varieties grow very well in the temperatures and weather quality of the Benevento area, in unspoiled nature!

3Blend PGI

The prominence of the 6 grapes!

3Blend IGP Campania RED: Aglianico + Merlot + Barbera

  • Aglianico: “The Jewel of the South” but with characteristics all its own. Red berry. Volcanic. Coming down to us from the 7th-6th centuries B.C. From the important structure. Intense and with flavors of black cherry, cherry, red fruits with some pepper
  • Merlot: the wine of Bordeaux! Fundamental component of the world’s most prestigious wines. Dark ruby berry almost black. Deep, persistent. With grassy and woody flavors.
  • Barbera: the red wine by definition!!! Ruby-red black berry. Gives floral flavors, red fruits, spices. Definitely tannic. It is a fine wine.

3Blend IGP Campania WHITE: Falanghina + Greco di Tufo + Fiano

  • Falanghina: plays at home, it is typical of Sannio. Still wine, floral, pineapple and pear, citrus. Very old wine, now winner of numerous awards
  • Greco di Tufo: master of Irpinia and beyond, it is dry and harmonious. It has intense, refined, fine, pleasant aromas. The first certainty of presence in the area is from the 1st cent. B.C., in fact in a fresco in Pompeii “Greek wine” is mentioned. But it is “Pliny the Elder” who brings home the importance of Greco by writing, “In truth, Greco wine was so prized that at banquets it was poured only once.”
  • Fiano: ours is Fiano di Avellino. It is distinguished by rich aromas: fruit (pears, apples, peaches, loquats and citrus) and wisteria flowers.

The grape harvest

Our harvest begins the actual winemaking process. Without good grapes, there would be no good wine, and our selection of grapes is able to produce the basic raw material each year for natural, stable wines with a consistent base in taste and aftertaste! The ever true saying “wine is made in the vineyard” should not be forgotten! Grapes are harvested at a specific time, at physiological ripeness following our experience and adding the advice of our consultants. Harvesting is done manually and mechanically. When our grapes arrive at the winery, we select the best bunches, removing rotten or underripe fruit before crushing.

Crushing and pressing

Crushing the bunches of fresh, ripe grapes is a step to which we attach great importance. Here we bring to life the magical transformation of grape juice from concentrated sunlight and water to magical wine. Careful and respectful pressing improves the quality and longevity of the wine, eliminating or reducing the need for preservatives. But not all of our wine is born in a crusher. In fact, we prefer to start fermentation inside the whole, uncrushed grape bunches, allowing the natural weight of the grapes to gently burst the skins, before pressing the uncrushed bunches.

From this point on, when we make our White we will rapidly press the must after pressing to separate the juice from the skins, seeds and solids so that the color of the skin and tannins do not seep into the wine. Instead, when we make our Red, we leave it in contact with its skins to gather color, flavor.

Fermentation

Here is the greatest magic. Fermentation begins and continues until a dry wine is produced. Fermentation can take from ten days to a month or more. It depends on environmental conditions that we monitor closely to bring our wines to an alcohol content of about 13 percent.

Refining and Bottling

The final stage of the winemaking process involves aging and bottling the wine. We give our Red further aging in small barrels, the famous “barriques.” The end result is the 3BLEND IGP!
